Process Interface Basics
Fundamental to PixInsight is the concept of a process. Processes are typically used to manipulate your data or to find out information about your data.
Processes have many different interface elements depending on what they are trying to accomplish. However, there is a section of the interface for processes that is much the same regardless of which process you are looking at. That portion of the process interface is at the very bottom of each process. Here is what a typical process looks like.

I have labeled the interface elements that will be present in many different processes. Some processes may not have all of these, but they will typically have a least some. If you hover your mouse over those interface elements for a bit, something called a tool tip will often appear. Those tool tips give the elements the labels in the image above.
Because these interface elements are going to be used by us time after time, it is important to learn them. You don't need to memorize them, it will come with usage.
We will be referring to these elements and if you don't remember them, remember you can tool tip them. At first, I will describe what they look like:

We will be referring to these elements and if you don't remember them, remember you can tool tip them. At first, I will describe what they look like:
- Blue Triangle - New Instance
- Blue Square - Apply
- Unfilled Blue Circle - Real-Time Preview
- Unfilled Blue Square - Edit Instance Source Code
- Blue Square with Bent Corner - Browse Documentation
- Blue Check Mark - Track View
- 4 Blue Arrows - Reset
The filled blue circle at the bottom of this process is the "Apply Global" button.
We will be going over the usage of during the tutorial but at some point we will start just referring to what they do such as "apply the process" or "browse the documentation for the process". If you don't recall what interface element does that, you can check back here.
