That seems to me a very apt quote for imaging. Often times it seems we are striving for the near impossible. Occasionally we touch it for a moment, but then it can be gone just as fast.
Lately I have been imaging the area around IC 1871, found within the Soul Nebula. The detail in Ha is beautiful. Unfortunately the O III signal is very faint. I tried 30m subs (binned 1x1) and they just were not cutting it. Last night I decided to try hour long subs. I managed to get 5 of them despite weather that kept trying to interfere (and that is a REAL problem with an hour long sub).

Here is a BiColor version using the Ha as red and luminosity. The O III (Total of 8 hours) was tone mapped and used for green and blue.
